Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
It has been wonderful to see so many of you really embracing the spirit of Comic Relief here at Fairfield. Our Fairfield community look absolutely amazing having taken on the fund-raising ideas promoted by our very own School Council.
In addition I am delighted that our school received a mention and today we were live-streamed on the BBC Morning Live Programme in support of the Gethin Jones 24 hour dancing challenge.
Each class was given a £50 budget to spend on our book corner Competition, which was generously donated by our PTA, to develop their class book corner into a comfy, cosy and inviting place to read.
Our school council judged the competition on our World Book day, alongside members of our Senior Leadership Team and the winning class is Badgers. They will receive £20, donated by our PTA, to spend on new books for their book corner.
Well done Badgers!!!
We’re taking part in @Sustrans #BigWalkandWheel - the Uk’s biggest #walking #wheeling #scooting and #cycling to school challenge. Encourage your children to take part on as many days a possible between 20- 31 March 2023.
This week a group of Year 1 children thoroughly enjoyed a Golf Festival at Havant College. They learned how to correctly hold a golf club and how to strike a ball towards different targets. The children played seven different games and showed great team spirit!
Today, we have launched the Eat them to Defeat them campaign at school!
80% of kids don’t eat enough vegetables. If you are worried about your child’s mood, behaviour and learning, a good place to start is their diet.
Eat Them to Defeat Them was created by Veg Power and ITV as a fun way to encourage kids to eat more veg. There is a massive TV advertising campaign, activities in thousands of schools, and our websites full of tips, hacks, advice and fun to help you succeed.
Over 1 million children took part last year. More than half of their parents say the kids ate more vegetables as a result. Even 35% of parents with fussy eaters, who eat next to no vegetables, said their kids ate more vegetables thanks to Eat Them to Defeat Them – it could work for you!
We will be sending home a parents information pack to help your child complete their mission....
HC3S (our school caterers) have a dedicated information page and this week will be focusing on peppers!

What a fantastic way to celebrate our 128th Birthday - we have had a very exciting and interesting day discovering what it would have been like for some of the first pupils at Fairfield, including the games the Victorians played, discovering some of the foods they ate as well as what school life would have been like!
Friday 27th January is our school’s 128th Birthday. In order to celebrate, the children will be taking part in a range of Victorian activities to find out a little more about what life would have been like for the first pupils of Fairfield. This will be as follows:
Year R – Victorian playground games and toys
Year 1 – Victorian food
Year 2 – Victorian school day
Our aim is for these themes to stay the same each year so that, as children move through the school, they build a little more on their knowledge of life during the Victorian times and the history of our school.
As part of the day, we would like for all children to come dressed in clothes appropriate to the Victorian era. We understand, however, that costumes can be costly especially if only worn once! We hope that the ideas below will give you some ways to provide an inexpensive costume for your child that you could create from existing clothing items you have at home.
If you are unable to provide a costume for your child, we would ask that they wear dark trousers/skirts and a white top or shirt as this will help them dress in keeping with the Victorian theme. Please do see your child’s class teacher if you have any problems or queries regarding this.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be in school on Wednesday 23rd, Thursday 24th and Monday 28th November and will be open after school in the hall for you to come and purchase the books on offer. All books purchased contribute towards free books for our school so it is a great place to start looking for early Christmas presents! .
To celebrate the Book Fair, Scholastic has provided us with some vouchers to give out as prizes. We are running a reading photo competition.
To enter, children can bring to school a photo of themselves reading in an unusual place. For example they could be reading in the garden on a trampoline, sat in the washing basket or whilst out and about. The more unusual the better!
There will be an overall winner, who will win £10 worth of book vouchers. There will also be 3 runners up, 1 from each year group, who will win a £5 voucher each.
If your child wishes to enter, they should bring a copy of their photo into school by Wednesday 23rd November. You can also send a copy of their photo to the admin inbox at adminoffice@fairfield-infant.co.uk
Winners will be announced on Thursday 24th November. Good Luck!
Don't forget it is Children in Need Day on Friday 18th November
Children may wear their pyjamas into school on this day. We will be collecting donations to Children in Need in class and in the playground at the beginning and end of the day - all donations will be gratefully received.
Your time to Shine Day
The children all look fantastic today dressed in their bright clothes and accessories in order to highlight visibility in Road Safety especially when travelling to and from School. We wanted to hold this event close after the changes in daylight saving time to highlight how children need to be visible when walking, scooting or cycling.
We had a very special visitor - Basil Bird our Road Safety Mascot who joined the children in some fitness fun on the playground this morning and throughout the day to raise our pupil's awareness of visibility when travelling
It was very hard to choose a winner from each class as they really were so many great outfits. Thank you all for so much effort, the children have really enjoyed today!
