Fairfield Infant School

Everyone is valued and learning is fun

Volunteers

Due to the current covid restrictions we are unlikely to be able to offer volunteering opportunities in school.

Please feel free to enquire if you are interested in a volunteering role in the future when restrictions have changed. Thank you

We welcome community, parent and carer volunteers to support in school.

The majority of our volunteers read individually with pupils or play games to support mathematical concepts, language or reading, but there are many different ways in which parents can help in schools – on an ad hoc or regular basis. These include:

  • Helping with literacy (typically listening to children)
  • Helping with numeracy
  • Sharing your professional skills (for example, if you’re a doctor, you might go in to talk to a class whose topic is healthy living)
  • Helping with classroom activities such as art or in our outdoor learning area (meadow)
  • Leading or helping to lead an after or before school club
  • Helping on school trips
  • Helping with sporting events: music or drama productions

There are also more official ways to volunteer at your child’s school, for instance by joining the PTA or offering your services as a Governor although these won’t necessarily involve much (or any) direct work with children.

Fairfield Infant School is a ‘Safer Recruitment School’ and committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment and all appointments will be subject to rigorous and appropriate vetting checks.
