We welcome community, parent and carer volunteers to support in school.

The majority of our volunteers read individually with pupils or play games to support mathematical concepts, language or reading, but there are many different ways in which parents can help in school – on an ad hoc or regular basis. These include:

• Helping with literacy (typically supporting children with their reading)
• Helping with numeracy
• Sharing your professional skills (for example, if you are a doctor, you might go in to talk to a class about healthy living)
• Helping with classroom creative learning activities such as art or in our outdoor learning area (meadow)
• Leading or helping to lead an after or before school club
• Helping on school off-site visits
• Helping with sporting events, music or drama productions

There are also more official ways to volunteer at your child’s school, for instance by joining the PTA or offering your services as a Governor.

Fairfield Infant School is a ‘Safer Recruitment School’ and committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment and all appointments will be subject to rigorous and appropriate vetting checks.

In line with Hampshire County Council guidance we request that volunteers obtain DBS disclosures. 

If you would like to volunteer please contact the admin office on: adminoffice@fairfield-infant.co.uk and we will pass your information on to Mrs Cook, our SENCO who allocates volunteers around the school. She will be able to answer any queries you may have.  

Mrs O’Neill, our Admin Officer manages the application and DBS and she will guide you through this process.
