PSHE & RHE

PSHE & RHE at Fairfield Infant School

You may have heard before of PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education). This year, we are moving towards teaching this as RHE. RHE, standing for "Relationships and Health Education" was a guidance document released by the government in 2020. It contains curriculum statements and requirements for schools to adhere to when teaching RHE in Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) and Key Stage 2.  The guidance became statutory from Summer term 2021. Should you wish to read the government document, a link can be found below, as well as our Fairfield Infant School Policy

We held a staff and parent consultation period in December 2020, after which the final curriculum documents for our school were agreed. You can find below a long term map (created in consultation with our main feeder junior school) which sets out the objectives and units we will cover in each half term. This is accompanied by a book list of texts that we will use to support the delivery of the RHE curriculum.

If you have any further questions regarding RHE at Fairfield, please contact the school office and arrange to speak to Miss Winsor, our PSHE & RHE curriculum leader, or Miss Merrell, our Deputy Headteacher.
