Meet Our Governors

Fairfield's governing body is made up of representatives of staff, parents and members of the local community. This diversity helps to ensure that the school benefits from a wide range of skills, interests and experiences.

The governing body meets 12 times a year looking at different target areas at each meeting.  These areas include staff recruitment, budget setting, maintenance and safety of the school premises and grounds, teaching, learning and attainment. Each governor also takes a special interest in a particular area of the curriculum and meets with the teacher who is responsible for that curriculum area.

I have two children who attend Fairfield, I believe that a good education and a happy school experience are the most important factors in a child's development. It is important as a parent to support our children's learning environment. I have become a school governor to play an active role in helping the school and fulfil its full potential. I have worked in local government for over 10 years with a strong background in health and safety and can therefore bring a range knowledge and experience which can enhance and support the governing body.

I am a mother of two boys, one of whom is old enough to attend Fairfield Infant School. I joined the governing body as a Parent Governor in December 2019. I have always wanted to join a school governing body and to be able to do this at my son’s school is a privilege.  I am particularly focused on safeguarding as a Governor, having previously had experience of this in an education environment. As well as being a mother, I am a Special Educational Needs Teacher in Further Education, with a particular interest in supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I have worked in Further Education for 10 years but trained in Primary Education and continue to be passionate about the power of education for all.  I believe every child should be proud of their unique skills and interests, and that being a confident learner contributes powerfully to achieving this sense of pride. I am committed to supporting staff, parents and children in achieving this.

After working in IT and marketing for a decade, I returned to education and studied an Early Childhood degree as well as being level 3 Makaton trained. I hold a keen interest in the theory behind play and how learning through play should be encouraged throughout our educational journeys, including higher and further education! I am currently training on a PGCE to be a primary school teacher which I am thoroughly enjoying! I hope the knowledge I gain can be put to good use for Fairfield's community. I have lived locally all my life and have a family and community connection to the school, I am passionate about making a difference and aiding the school in being the best it can be.

What do Governors do ?
Our main role as Governors is :

  • To provide a strategic view of where the school is heading.
  • To provide support and appropriate challenge to the school.
  • To hold the school to account for the quality of the education it provides.
  • To safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are pupils at the school.

See below for a link to the 'Your School Governors' leaflet produced to tell you more about the role of Fairfield's Governors.

How to contact the Fairfield governors:
