Forest School Round-Up

Forest School for the Bug Hunters and Marvellous Minibeasts has sadly come to an end. We are so thrilled at how much growth we have seen in the children's confidence, resilience and self esteem. The children have had a chance to try out lots of new things such as using woodwork tools, making crafts, building dens, cooking on a campfire, and making new friends. Cookery was everyone's favorite and over the weeks we have cooked marshmallows, made our own sweet or savory damper bread, cooked pitta pizzas and of course we had to finish our last session with smores. Thank you to all the children who were in the groups, it's been so much fun, we have really enjoyed spending time with you.

Campfire Popcorn

At forest school last week, we experimented with making and eating campfire popcorn. Some of us liked the smokey flavour, some of us didn't. Due to the weather the Bug Hunters didn't do this but we will try it with them in a future session.

2023 - 2024

9th February 2024

This week marks the end of forest school for our Conker Crew and Adventurous Acorns groups.  They have been working with Mrs Delahay and Mrs Wiggins every week since September working on their social skills, confidence and self esteem through exploration, play, den building, using tools, crafting and lighting campfires. We have really enjoyed working with the children, seeing them grow and develop new skills and confidence which they can take with them through life.

This week saw the start of our forest school groups, both groups took part in playing games, den building, bug hunting and making tree faces using clay and other natural objects. Of course there was also the mandatory pause for reflection, hot chocolate and biscuits in the beautiful autumn sunshine. Well done to the Conker Crew and the Adventurous Acorns, Mrs Delahay and Mrs Wiggins are looking forward to next week already. - W/C 2nd October 2023
