Read about our Governors

Mrs Gill Tonkin  - Chair of Governors

I am both a parent and grandparent, with a keen interest in education and ensuring children get

the best possible start in life.  I have previous experience as a lecturer in Business Administration

and IT, and currently work for a high street bank, in customer service and management, and am

qualified as a Personal Banker.  I joined the governing body in September 2017 and was

subsequently elected as Chair of Governors in October 2019.  I have a very strong interest

in supporting my local community and utilising my life experiences to assist the school in developing

a strong learning environment.

Mr Mike Smith - Vice Chair, Parent Governor

I have two children who attend Fairfield, I believe that a good education and a

happy school experience are the most important factors in a child's development.

It is important as a parent to support our children's learning environment.

I have become a school governor to play an active role in helping the school and

fulfil its full potential. I have worked in local government for over 10 years with

a strong background in health and safety and can therefore bring a range knowledge

and experience which can enhance and support the governing body.

Mrs Lisa Reynolds  - Co-Opted Governor

I worked at Fairfield for 10 years in many roles within the office team.

I work closely with Governors regarding Safeguarding, Finance, Staffing,

Buildings and Health & Safety. I became a member of the Governing

Body in Jan 2016.  My areas of responsibility are for training and development and E-safety.

Mr Nick Turner - Co-Opted Governor

After working in IT within the education sector for 8 years.  I miss being involved

in education, I believe that nothing is more important than a good education.

I look forward to working with the governors, staff and pupils at Fairfield

Infant School to provide Fairfield's children with the best education possible.

Mr Keith Doe - Co-Opted Governor

I joined the Governing Body in September 2017 and I am keen to put my

skills and experience into helping Fairfield continue to support our pupils,

parents and teachers. I have many years’ experience working in Financial,

Operations and Governance roles in a variety of sectors and hope that

this experience benefits the school. Having always been local and with

many of my friends children having been through Fairfield, it’s a school

I know well and care about.

Mrs Preeti Mehta - Co-opted Governor

Education and learning is my passion.  I have been an active member of Parents Forum

in my children's school. I believe that I will be able to contribute to Fairfield Infant

School using my skills and knowledge and make a difference to a school that is also

passionate about learning knowledge and working towards preparing responsible future

citizens.

Amy Page - Co-Opted Governor

After working in IT and marketing for a decade, I returned to

education and am currently in my final year of an Early Childhood

degree. I am also training to Level 3 in Makaton. I hold a keen

interest in the theory behind play and how learning through play

should be encouraged throughout our educational journeys, including

higher and further education! I am due to start a Masters in Education

Studies in September 2020, where I hope the knowledge I gain can be

put to good use in school. I have lived locally all my life and have a family

and community connection to the school, I am passionate about making a

difference and aiding the school in being the best it can be.

Janna Anderson  - Parent Governor

I am a mother of two boys, one of whom is old enough to attend Fairfield

Infant School. I joined the governing body as a Parent Governor in December

2019. I have always wanted to join a school governing body and to be able to

do this at my son’s school is a privilege.  I am particularly focused on safeguarding

as a Governor, having previously had experience of this in an education environment.

As well as being a mother, I am a Special Educational Needs Teacher in Further

Education, with a particular interest in supporting students with emotional and

behavioural difficulties. I have worked in Further Education for 10 years but

trained in Primary Education and continue to be passionate about the power of

education for all.  I believe every child should be proud of their unique skills and

interests, and that being a confident learner contributes powerfully to achieving

this sense of pride. I am committed to supporting staff, parents and children in achieving this.
